The first Continental World Tour event of 2025 was held in Melbourne, Australia, on 29 March 2025. The meeting, the Maurie Plant Meet, had a sold-out venue and some tremendous performances. 
Myers 3:34.98, Denny 68.17, Kennedy beats Gout, Ndori beats Tebogo.

MELBOURNE (AUS, Mar 29): Still just a U20 talent, Cameron Myers won the John Landy Memorial 1500m race in 3:34.98 outdoor WL at the opening WACT Gold meeting of the season, Maurie Plant Meet, in front of the sold-out Lakeside Stadium. Adam Spencer finished second (3:35.52), while New Zealand’s prodigy Sam Ruthe was seventh (3:40.12 U18 NR). Fresh World Indoor 60m medallist Lachlan Kennedy clocked 20.26 (0.4) PB and edged out U20 star Gout Gout (20.30 in his pro debut).

In the high-quality men’s discus, Olympic medallist Matthew Denny won 68.17 from Great Britain’s Lawrence Okoye (64.60) and Connor Bell of New Zealand (62.14). Bayapo Ndori led the Botswanan clean sweep in the 400m in 45.14, ahead of Olympic 200m champion Letsile Tebogo (45.26) and Leungo Scotch (45.60). Ethiopia’s Fentaye Belayneh won the 3000m in 8:34.30 PB/outdoor WL over Georgia Griffith (8:35.10) and another Ethiopian Senayet Getachew (8:35.26 PB). Claudia Hollingsworth topped the 1500m in 4:05.97 ahead of Sarah Billings (4:06.37), with U18 Ethiopian Elsabet Amare finishing fifth (4:08.10 PB), and Ky Robinson won the 5000m in 13:13.17 outdoor WL from Seth O’Donnell (13:14.57), and sixth U20 Rui Suzuki of Japan (13:25.59), lifetime bests for all.

Another notable win for Eleanor Patterson in the high jump (194), Lianna Davidson in the javelin throw with 61.06 over Mackenzie Little (59.66), and Jillian Shippee of USA in the women’s hammer (71.26).
