Phijffers 44.82 CR, Fischer-Breiholz 48.01 CR


BERGEN (NOR, Jul 19): There were also fast men’s 400m races, Jonas Phijffers of Netherlands clocked 44.82 CR/U23NR/Tokyo standard to win the 400m from Poland’s Maksymilian Szwed (45.28) and Briton Brodie Young (45.34 PB), and Germany’s Owe Fischer-Breiholz improved significantly to 48.01 CR in the 400m hurdles, winning ahead of Ismail Nezir from Türkiye (48.33 PB) and Slovenia’s Matic Ian Guček (48.34 =NR), Tokyo standards for all, fourth Antti Sainio again improved the Finnish record (48.61). Israel’s Blessing Afrifah topped the 200m in 20.64 (-0.7) over Damiano Dentato of Italy (20.69) and Spain’s Jaime Sancho (20.76).

Artur Felfner of Ukraine won the javelin with 81.14 from Germany’s Nick Thumm (80.74 PB) and Eemil Porvari of Finland (79.88), Italy’s Simone Bertelli improved to 570 when winning the pole vault ahead of Tristan Despres of France (560) and Latvia’s Valters Kreišs (560), and Tizian Lauria of Germany topped the shot put with 20.02 over Sweden’s Leo Zikovic (19.47 PB) and Yannick Rolvink of Netherlands (19.01). Favourited Dutchmen dominated the distance races, Niels Laros the 5000m in 13:44.74 ahead of Nicholas Griggs (13:45.80) and Will Barnicoat (13:46.11), and Stefan Nillessen the 1500m in 3:44.87 over Paul Anselmini (3:45.35) and Poland’s Filip Rak (3:45.42).
