Weber 91.51 WL/MR, sixth trophy for Lyles, home win for Werro (1:55.91 NR)
ZURICH (SUI, Aug 28): The 2025 Wanda Diamond League Final was concluded at the sold-out Letzigrund in Zurich. Three meeting records, and one equalled and also world leading throws of Julian Weber in the men’s javelin. Noah Lyles defeated Letsile Tebogo in the 200m and won his sixth Diamond Trophy overall. Fifth DL titles were won by Femke Bol (400m hurdles) and Valarie Allman (discus). Audrey Werro rewarded home crowds with a victory and new national record in the 800m. Jimmy Gressier achieved his best ever achievement when surprisingly topping the men’s 3000m. Letsile Tebogo and Faith Cherotich have been given the Jesse Owens Rising Star Award. The award is to honour the best performing male and female athletes aged 23 or under at each Diamond League Final. At the end the event was held without rain and also decent temperatures.

100m: Alfred returned in shape, clocking 10.76 (0.3) and winning her second DL title from Tia Clayton (10.84).
200m: Brown retained her DL title and secured a Tokyo spot, winning in a season best of 22.13 (-0.4) over Asher-Smith (22.18).
400m: Naser showed good shape before Tokyo, winning her third Diamond trophy in a meeting record of 48.70 ahead of Paulino (49.23), national records for third Jæger (49.49) and fourth Weil (49.72).
800m: Enthusiastic home crowds rewarded with Werro’s first ever DL win in a new national record of 1:55.91, and fourth Tokyo spot for Switzerland, just ahead of Hunter Bell (1:55.96 PB), Bourgoin (1:56.97 PB) and Maloney (1:57.29 NR).
1500m: Chepchirchir took the victory in a season best of 3:56.99 when outsprinted completely fading Hull (3:57.02) in the last metres.
3000m: Belayneh won in 8:40.56 over Andrews (8:40.95), and Ethiopia could send the fourth runner to Tokyo.
3000m steeplechase: Cherotich retained her DL title in 8:57.24, securing a fourth Tokyo spot for Kenya, Jeruto finished second (9:10.87).
100m hurdles: Nugent dominated in an equalled season best of 12.30 (-0.6) ahead of Kambundji who equalled NR with 12.40.
400m hurdles: Fifth consecutive DL title for Bol in a new meeting record of 52.18, second Zapletalová (53.18) improving NR for the fifth time in the season.

400m hurdles (non-DL): Diallo in 54.52 NR over Wernli (55.02).
Long jump: Successful DL title defence for Iapichino with 693 (-1.1) over Mihambo 692 (0.1).
Triple jump: Pérez Hernández retained her DL title with 14.91 (-0.5), leading the Cuban clean sweep ahead of Povea 14.72 (-0.6) and Velazco 14.65 (-0.6).
Discus: Allman secured fifth consecutive DL title with 69.18 over van Klinken (67.15 SB).
Javelin: Tzengko decided in the first series with 64.57, Vilagoš finished second (62.96).
Men
100m: Third Diamond trophy for Coleman in 9.97 (-0.4), winning from Simbine (9.98), World U20 champion Walaza finished injured and left the track in a wheelchair.
200m: Lyles defeated Tebogo in a thrilling finish 19.74 (-0.6) to 19.76. Sixth Diamond trophy overall for Lyles (fifth in 200m).

400m: Patterson improved to 43.85 and won clearly ahead of Ndori (44.40) and Norwood (44.45), who goes to Tokyo thanks to Patterson’s wild card.
400m (non-DL): Phijffers won in 44.84 from Molnár (45.02).
800m: Wanyonyi managed to win a breathtaking race in 1:42.37, earning the fourth available World Champs spot for Kenya and third consecutive Diamond trophy, over Burgin (1:42.42).
1500m: Laros becomes the biggest favourite for Tokyo, winning clearly in a new national record of 3:29.20 ahead of R.Cheruiyot (3:29.91 PB).
3000m: Big success and first ever DL win for Gressier (7:36.78) in a thrilling finish over Fisher (7:36.81) and Almgren (7:36.82).
3000m steeplechase: Ruppert (8:09.02) reminded his Rabat performance and confidently defeated Serem (8:09.96) in the home straight, to take his first ever DL win. He is also first European to win DL steeple trophy.
110m hurdles: Tinch destroyed the rest of the field in an equalled meeting record of 12.92 (0.3), set by Roger Kingdom in 1989 (WR back then), second Llopis in a season best of 13.12.
400m hurdles: Warholm continues to be in top shape, clocking a new meeting record of 46.70 to win a third Diamond trophy, Samba second (47.45).
High jump: First DL title for Olympic champion Kerr clearing 232, then tried once at 234 and pulled out when Doroshchuk failed at this height after clearing 230.
Triple jump: Díaz Hernández won his third Diamond trophy with 17.56 (-0.3) from Pichardo with 17.47 (-0.4).
Discus: Debut Diamond trophy for WR holder Alekna with 68.89, Čeh was second (67.18).
Javelin: Weber shocked his opponents in his first attempt and new world lead and meeting record of 91.37, improved in second series to 91.51, Chopra finished second with 85.01 from the final series.
