Our topics today for Episode 951:

1. Amsterdam this weekend; NYC fast approaching.

2. Cross-country season in October!

3. Now is the time to apply for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon; more to come!

4. Vinny Mauri is the real thing; his 2:06:46 shows that he is able to compete on the big stage.

5. Clayton Young used the injury to keep his focus, and it helped him, in my mind, with his fine 2:05:23 in Chicago.

6. Charles Hicks is learning about the marathon; after 3 marathons, Charles has run 2:05:35, pretty damn impressive.

7. Galen Rupp made me smile. His 11th-place 2:06:55 is the American masters record. Post-race, he told Carey Pinkowski he has alot more in him! Anyone who discounts Galen is serious about his possible fifth Olympic team is in dreamland.

Galen Rupp finished his first marathon in two years, placing 16th in 2:09:41!

8. Emma Grace Hurley has changed the complexion of women’s marathoning in the US. A 2:20:47 debut is astonishing, and she is already faster than Joan Benoit Samuelson.

9. C.J. Albertons is one of my favorites. The community college coach just ran a PB in Chicago again, with his 2:07:19!

10. Dubai Marathon is January 17, 2027; register at www.dubaimarathon.org.

11. Brooks XC Regionals are fast approaching; register at www.brooksrunning.com.

12. RAK Half Marathon is January 30, 2027; register at www.RAKHalfMarathon.com .

13. The NIKE Cross regionals are open for registration; register here: NIKE Cross Regionals!
