The Breaking4 was a bell weather event.

Held at Stade Charlety, in Paris, France, on a squeaky fast MONDO track surface, the Breaking4 celebrated an athlete in her prime, a three time Olympic gold medalist, World Champion and WR holder at the 1,500 meters, Mile and 5,000 meters.

Faith Kipyegon is a tremendous athlete, Mother and global role model for women of all ages. Her attempt at the 4 minute mile, which resulted in a 4:06.9 mile, caught the world’s attention in only a way that NIKE could have done. Was it over the top? Yes. Did she not break 4 minutes? No, and I am not sure that was ever in the cards.

But what Faith Kipyegon did, by giving the world four minutes and six plus seconds to watch a woman run a mile, reminded a new generation that dreams can come true. Somewhere in the world, there is a young women, who saw the race and could be inspired to run that mile.

The audio below was a fun interview that I did with Sarah Mulkerrins and Ed Harry of the BBC as a preview for Breaking 4, which happened on June 26, 2025. I hope that you enjoy it.

I love my work with the BBC, it is fun and inspiring and allows me to share my enthusiasm on the global sport with many. Special thanks to Ed Harry and Sarah Mulkerrins, who are always so gracious!

And thanks to Faith Kipyegon who inspires millions!
