DUSSELDORF (GER, Feb 1): At the 12th edition of the PSD Bank Meeting 2000 spectators saw more than 130 athletes from 36 nations and in total 6 world leading marks and 1 meeting record. Poland’s 800 m ace Adam Kszczot completed the dozen: The world silver medallist clocked a new world lead with 1:46.17 n the 800 m celebrating his sixth win in a row here. Kenyan Elijah Manangoi achieved another WL in men 1500 m with 3:37.62 ahead of Bethwell Birgen 3:37.81 with German Homiyu Tesfaye as fourth 3:40.97 European lead 2017. Fast times in men hurdles. In heats Pascal Martinot-Lagarde World lead 7.53 and in the finals another improvement for Orlando Ortega 7.51 WL, the same time for 2nd Dimitri Bascou, also 7.53 for Garfield Darien and 7.62 for Pascal Martinot-Lagarde. Last WL of the day was the 2:00.91 by Joanna Jozwik in women 800 m. Here the reigning World champion Mariya Arzamasava finished fourth 2:03.10. In Spain living Cuban Yunier Perez surprisingly won the 60 m in 6.56 just edging super-vet Kim Collins also 6.56 and newcomer on European circuit Jamaican Everton Clarke 6.57. Double World Indoor champion Pavel Maslak scored the fastest 400 m time 46.00 with Olympic finalist Bralon Taplin winning the other race in 46.25. In the 3000 m Kenyan Hillary Ngetich in 7:44.73 edged Ethiopian Dawit Wolde 7:47.66. The only meet record in women pole vault (staged for first time) as US olympic medalist Sandi Morris cleared 472. Patricia Mamona won after Boston also here with 14.11 ahead of German surprise Neele Eckhardt 14.09 PB. Olympic medalist Anita Marton beat in shot put European champion Christina Schwanitz, 18.17 to 18.13. Ukrainian former European indoor champion Olesya Povkh beat in 60 m finals World indoor champion Barbara Pierre 7.16 to 7.17. Third Briton Asha Philip 7.18 and fourth with PB German Gina Luckenkemper 7.19. European champion Cindy Roleder won the hurdles final in 7.95 and equaled the European lead 2017 of Pamela Dutkiewicz who clocked in heats 7.95 (in finals third 7.99). Second was Alina Talay 7.95 but the fastest time of the day was delivered by US Christina Manning 7.92 in heats.

RunBlogRun Opines: This was the second stop of the 2017 IAAF World Indoor Tour. After Boston (Jan. 28), Dusseldorf (Feb. 1), Karlsruhe (Feb. 4), Torun (Feb. 11) and Birmingham (Feb. 18). We love the idea of a small global circuit and the fast times and performances in the winter season.
