The Bislett Games is one of the most iconic of summer athletic meetings. The ghosts of Ron Clarke are there, among others, as the Scandanvian crowds willed the athletes into stellar performances. And, quite frankly, it has not changed.

An incredible performance from Karsten Warholm to break the European record in the 400m hurdles at the Bislett Games!#OsloDLpic.twitter.com/5bCBTUndqQ

— European Athletics (@EuroAthletics) June 14, 2019

Christian Coleman got out early and blasted a 9.85. Sydney McLaughlin overcame a deadly first hit on a hurdle and willed herself into winning from Olympic champion Daliah Muhammed and a tough field. Karsten Warholm has now made the race for 400m hurdle gold a 3 way event in Doha. Sam Kendricks shows that his fitness and, most importantly his competitiveness is all about the 5.91 meters. And Maria Lasitskene shows the 2.01 meters is just a step on the way to the European record, and dare shall we say, higher?

And, in the women’s steeplechase, a huge upset!

Kick!
