The Adrian Martinez Classic is one of those true gems of New England meets that one must, if humanly possible, attend. It has the feel of some of the small European events that one might attend, and the friendliness of the meet organizers, fields, and the legacy of the young man whose life is celebrated makes this a very special event.
Held at the Emerson Play ground in Concord, MA, the meet features neighborhood events, plus HIgh performance 800m, Mile, 5000m. It was begun to the celebrate the life of Adrian Martinez, a young man who was dearly loved, enjoyed running the mile and playing soccer, and who succumbed to sudden cardiac arrest. The meet is held in his honor, to raise scholarships for Concord High School and celebrate the sport.
I missed the event in 2018 with heart surgery and this year, due to weather. Hope to see you all there in 2019.
