LAUSANNE (SUI, Aug 26): Yulimar Rojas produced the second best ever triple jump mark (15.52m) as her Diamond League record was joined by three meeting records at Athletissima which started back in 1977 and continues as one of the classical fixtures on the circuit: Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce’s 10.60 was the third best in history, while Ryan Crouser had another superb series and Femke Bol showed her finishing strength. A meeting of some shocks with defeats for Dalilah Muhammad, Elaine Thompson-Herah, Karsten Warholm and Armand Duplantis was also marked by strong winds with 12 000 spectators and below 19 degrees temperature.

Men
200m: The wind of +3.2 denied Kenny Bednarek (19.65) a PB as Fred Kerley (19.77, would be also PB) and Steven Gardiner (20.11) were next.
400m (non-DL): Karsten Warholm was below-par in his European record attempt, just managing 45.51 for fourth behind Wil London’s 45.17.
800m: Marco Arop (1:44.50) added to his win in Eugene, holding off the challenging olympic medalists Emmanuel Korir (1:44.62), with Ferguson Rotich third (1:45.48).
3000m: Jakob Ingebrigtsen (7:33.06) had to work hard to fend off Berihu Aregawi (7:33.39), with Stewart McSweyn third on 7:35.06. The pace was slightly off from the beginning for the European record attempt and they went out to 62s in the fifth and sixth laps.
110m hurdles: Devon Allen coped well with a following wind of 2.9 to clock 13.07 from Jason Joseph (13.11). Hansle Parchment got back into the race after a slow start but then hit the eighth hurdle and eased in last.
Pole vault: In fourth, Armand Duplantis suffered only his second defeat of the season, failing at 5.82m, having needed two attempts at 5.62m. Chris Nilsen won with 5.82m, a height shared by Sam Kendricks.
Shot: Ryan Crouser took his winning streak to 21 with a meeting record of 22.81m in the first round. All four of his other legal throws were better than that of runner-up Tomas Walsh, who improved to 22.10m in the last round. Filip Mihaljevic was third with a best of 21.37m.
Javelin: Johannes Vetter had his best mark since June, registering a best of 88.54m. Jakub Vadlejch was second with 85.73m with Anderson Peters third on 84.32m.
Women
100m: Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce sprang a surprise on Elaine Thompson-Herah, starting fast and hanging on to a PB, meeting record and third fastest in history of 10.60 (1.7). Thompson-Herah had the best ever second-placed time of 10.64 – equalling the eighth best in history. Shericka Jackson was third with 10.94.
200m (non-DL): Marija van Hunenstijn was faster than her PB with 22.78 in winning but the wind was +2.5m/s.
400m: Marileidy Paulino won comfortably in 50.40 with Sada Williams second on 50.77.
800m (non-DL): Ellie Baker, with 2:00.45, beat Lore Hoffman (2:01.06).
1500m: Favourite Freweyni Hailu caught Linden Hall after the latter made a solo bid on the third lap – 4:02.24 to 4:02.95. Josette Norris was third with 4:03.27.
400m hurdles: Femke Bol powered away to a meet record of 53.02 off the final hurdle, until then challenged by Shamier Little (53.78). Dalilah Muhammad was below-par with fourth (54.50).
High jump: Mariya Lasitskene continued her winning ways with a first-time clearance of 1.98m. But she had needed two attempts at 1.92m and three at 1.95m. Yaroslava Muhuchikh also cleared 1.98m – at the third try. Nicola McDermott was third with 1.95m.
Long jump: Khaddi Sagnia equalled her PB to 6.92 (+1.0) for the best jump of the competition, but Ivana Spanovic won the deciding last round (673 to 664), her best having been 6.85 (+2.3, best legal 676). Jazmin Sawyers was third with 6.66 (-0.8).
Triple jump: Yulimar Rojas had one of the best-ever series, improving the Diamond League and meeting record twice with 15.42m and 15.52m in the third and fourth rounds. That was after 15.56 (+3.5) in the first round. Her last round was 15.11m (0.5). Including the second best legal mark ever, she had three of the top six all-conditions jumps in history. Shanieka Ricketts was second with 15.02m (+2.7) and a legal 14.82m.
4x100m: Great Britain denied a home win for the Swiss with Daryll Neita passing Salome Kora for the win 42.44 to 42.47. Austria in 7th clocked 44.49 NR.
