Olli Hoare and Geordie Beamish sets 5000m national indoor records for Australia and NZ

On Running Athletics Club’s Olli Hoare and Geordie Beamish opened up the 2022 Indoor season with national records in the 5000m for Australia and New Zealand this past weekend in Boston! Coached by Dathan Ritzenhein, OAC athletes Hoare and Beamish ran the 25 laps on the 200m track with focus and showed their fitness level prior to the 2022 season!

Hoare and Beamish 5000 m national records

BOSTON (USA, Dec 4): Several amazing performances in distance events at Sharon Colyear-Danville indoor Season Opener. In 5000 m men Olli Hoare and Geordie Beamish with 13:09.96 and 13:12.53 got the national records of Australia and New Zealand. Fifth with a time of 13:22.59 Nico Young set a new USA u20 indoor record (previous Chris Derrick 13:48.26 since 2009). Ireland’s Barry Keane improves the 18-year-old national indoor record with 13:25.96, while Canada’s Ehab El-Sandali and France’s Simon Bedard move to fifth (13:28.79) and third (13:32.48) on their national indoor all-time lists respectively. In 3000 m victory by James Randon 7:49.44 over Athanas Kioko the new Kenyan student-athlete sensation of Cross Country season with 7:52.92. In 3000 m women’s close final between Canadian Ceili McCabe 8:52.52 and middle-distance Anna Camp-Bennett 8:52.53. Third Amy Cashin 8:53.07 and fourth U20 star Katelyn Tuohy with 8:54.18 US indoor U20 record. In the 5000 m Annie Rodenfels won with 15:08.80 in front of Whittni Orton-Morgan (the two weeks ago winner in NCAA Cross Country Nationals) 15:09.47 and Courtney Wayment 15:15.46. To remark too, the win of British reigning European U20 100 m champion from Tallinn Toby Mayokawo in 60 m dash with a time of 6.70.
