The men’s 100 meter final is now a race for the ages. People who were here will be telling their children, and perhaps grandchildren, that they saw history made. First of all, the three fastest men of all times, Usain Bolt, Asafa Powell and Tyson Gay were in the final. Then, you had Richard Thompson, Daniel Bailey, Dwain Chambers and Darvis Patton.
In the end, the race lived up to its hype and more, and Usain Bolt is the fastest man in the world!

Here is how I saw the race:
Prior to tonight, the fastest time in the world this year was 9.77, run by Tyson Gay in Rome.
Well, that is gone!
The lanes were like this: Dwain Chambers in lane one, Marc Burns in lane two, Daniel Bailey in lane three, Usain Bolt was in lane four, Tyson Gay in lane five, Asafa Powell in lane six, Darvis Patton in lane seven and Richard Thompson in lane eight.
The start was clean and while Bolt got out better than normal, as did Gay, their starts were not great. From the start, Bolt, Gay and Powell were separated, it was their own
race in a race.
At 40 meters, Usain Bolt took the lead, with Tyson Gay in hot pursuit and Asafa Powell close. Tyson Gay stayed on the heels of Usain Bolt, but that was all she wrote.
What is fascinating is that Usain Bolt worked this entire race, and while he looked over once to his right ( Gay and Powell were there), he was pumping and ran the race through the finish! And what a finish it was! Usain Bolt ran 9.58 for a new world record. The twenty-two year old Jamaican broke his own world record by .11 of a second set last year in Beijing in that fabulous 100 meter final. By seventy-five meters, Usain Bolt had complete control of the race.
Tyson Gay ran his heart out, setting a new American record in 9.71! Gay stayed close until about 80 meters, and did not give up, as Bolt pulled away, winning by two Bolt strides. Gay is now second fastest person with the third fastest time!
Asafa Powell was third in 9.84, his seasonal best. Daniel Bailey of Jamaica was fourth in 9.93, Richard Thompson of Trinidad ran 9.93, a seasonal best. Dwain Chambers of Great Britian ran 10.00, his seasonal best in sixth. Marc Burns of Trinidad is seventh in 10.00, a seasonal best, and Darvis Patton was eighth in 10.34.
So, the poster that PUMA is about to have us do in the US, WHO Is Fastest is right-Usain Bolt is the fastest man in the world! And the stadium and world loved it. Within ten minutes of the race, the video of the entire race was on You Tube!

I am shock, I must admit. The world record that Usain Bolt ran was amazing. Using his full effort, this guy is in a world of his own! More on it after I start breathing again!
