I am from St. Louis. I have to admit that I am very proud of Nancy Lieberman and her team in putting on the Go! St. Louis Marathon & Family Fitness weekend. Growing from 2,500 in 2001 to 23,000 this past April, the event also gives runners and walkers a view of the history of St. Louis. From the Spanish to the French to those going West, St. Louis has so many eclectic neighborhoods and influences! Tying into that culture is why the race is so successful.

Go! St. Louis is an example of making a running and fitness event resonate with the local culture and community. We hope that they sell out even faster in 2011 than in 2010!

ST. LOUIS (MO)
– September 1, 2010 – GO! St.
Louis
, a not-for-profit organization that specializes
in presenting fitness events and programs announced today that registration for
the 11th Annual GO! St. Louis Marathon & Family Fitness Weekend,
set for April 9 & 10, 2011 opened on September 1, 2010.

The event is Missouri’s
largest competitive fitness event, featuring races for all ages and fitness
levels. The event started in 2000 with 2,500 participants and increased to more
than 23,000 in 2010. The GO! St. Louis Family Fitness Weekend features a
marathon, half marathon, marathon relay, 5K run/walk, GO! St. Louis Read, Right
and Run Marathon®, Children’s Fun Runs and a Mature Mile.

Participants are
encouraged to register early to secure their spot and to take advantage of the
early sign-up incentives, including the opportunity to save on registration
fees and getting their race bib personalized. Due to the increased popularity
of the event, a registration participation cap has been reinstituted again this
year. The endurance race maximum has been set at 22,000 total participants for
the marathon (3,000 participants), half marathon (15,000), marathon relay (500
teams) and 5K (2,000). The half marathon race, which is the
organization’s most popular event, has grown to become one of the largest
in the
U.S. and sold
out months in advance last year at 12,500 registrants. The 2011 half marathon
race cap has been increased to 15,000 participants.

All event registrants receive high-quality runner
amenities, including a Brooks performance shirt, finisher’s medal and
various additional incentives.

Entry fees for the event range from $10 to $220 (4-person
relay team). Entry fees increase as the event draws closer, so register by October 31, 2010 to get the best possible
price.
