Deena Kastor won the 2011 San Jose RNR half marathon on Sunday. Here is a bit more about her victory! Deena, as many know, is building towards her fourth Olympic Trials competition after having had her first child….

ASICS’
Kastor Takes San Jose Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon

On
Sunday morning, in cool autumn conditions, ASICS athlete and Olympian Deena
Kastor easily won the women’s division of the Dodge San Jose Rock ‘n’
Roll Half Marathon with a time of 1:12:23. Nearly 13,000 participants competed
in the event, which is one of the Bay Area’s biggest and one of
California’s fastest road races.

Kastor,
who lives and trains in Mammoth Lakes, is preparing for the 2012 U.S. Olympic
Marathon Trial January 14, in Houston, Texas, where she’ll vie for a spot
to represent the U.S. team in the 2012 games.

“I
felt good out there,” says Kastor. “I will be using this race as a
stepping stone for the Olympic Trials in January.”

Kastor
is a world-renowned long distance runner who holds the American record in the
marathon and half-marathon. Kastor’s most noted accomplishment is winning
the bronze medal in the women’s marathon at the 2004 Olympics in Athens
and winning the 2006 Flora London Marathon where she set the U.S. record of
2:19:36.
