Here are the results around the world for Friday, January 10, 2014…


US INDOOR RESULTS (Jan 10)

AKRON: Canadian pole vault national record holder Shawn Barber cleared 553 at the Akron Opener.
 
FAYETTEVILLE: World medalist Wallace Spearmon showed top early shape at Arkansas Invitational with 20.68 200 m time. It is his fastest indoor 200 m time since 2008. But the best result of the meet was in the women 600 m where Nigerian World relay 6th placer Regina George clocked impressive African record 1:25.76, the 8th fastest ever and second best non-Russian or Soviet performer. In the women 200 m talented junior Regine Williams clocked also fast 23.37, personal best over Joanna Atkins 23.59 (she was the fastest in the 400 m 52.92). Jamaican hurdles talent, Carifta Games and Schools Champs winner Omar McLeod opened his US college career with 6.73 and 7.82 first indoor races ever in the 60/60 m hurdles combination. Clayton Paros won the 400 m in 46.46. 
 
LAWRENCE: 2007 World Champs participant Mark Jelks got 6.66 in the 60 m at the Bill Easton Classic. Relay Olympic winner Diamond Dixon improved in the 600 yards at the oversized track here with 1:21.15. 

COLUMBIA: SEC Champion Markesh Woodson posted 6.69 in the 60 m at the Missouri Opener. 
 
CARBONDALE: Traditional strong women weight throw at Saluki Open with 23.29 for Jeneva McCall and 22.27 for Gwen Berry. 

COLUMBUS:  Demoye Bogle improved at 60 m hurdles during Buckeye Classic meet to 7.65 and beat Donovan Robertson 7.74, also a PB. 

NEW YORK: Running talent Mary Cain opened her indoor season at Gotham Cup meet in the Armory with 1:12.43 second place in the 500 m and half hour later 800 m win in 2:08.51. She competed first time in her career in indoor 500 m race, it was won by Jamaican Sophia Smellie in 1:11.63. Ajee Wilson clocked 2:50.44 in the 1000 m. In the men 300 m fast 33.30 for Jamaicans Akheem Gauntlett and Jermaine Brown. Israeli Donald Sanford clocked 47.47 in the 400 m. Tom Hopkins got 1:02.57 in the 500 m. 

BIRMINGHAM: Olympic relay champion and World record holder Tianna Bartoletta opened at Blazer Invite with 7.30 in the 60 m, Nigerian Gloria Asumnu posted 7.34 in another race. St. Vincent´s Kineke Alexander got 37.82 in the 300 m, new national indoor record. Chanelle Price won the 1000 m in 2:40.03. In the men 300 m fastest 33.57 for Tucker Peabody over Trey Hadnot 33.59 and in another race 33.61 for Elvyonn Bailey. Antwan Wright clocked fastest in the 60 m prelims with 6.65, PB. James Harris cleared 223 in the high jump. Last year NCAA Indoor Champion Eddie Lovett from Virgin Islands opened with 7.82 at 60 m hurdles.
