This interview was originally run on October 29, 2021. CJ Albertson will be running the Boston Marathon on April 18, 2022. We wish him much luck. CJ lead the Boston Marathon last year for more than 20 miles and held on for 10th place in 2:11.44.

CJ Albertson took the lead in Boston, organically. He lead from near the start to after 20 miles, and was probably the most seen athlete on both the global and National TV broadcasts. Thanks to his sponsor, Brooks running, we were most fortunate to speak with CJ about a week after his amazing run, where he finished 10th in 2:11.44, just off his PB of 2:11.18.

CJ is the founding cross country coach at Clovis Community College in Clovis, CA. Think midwest farm country but on the West coast! A fine runner in high school and college, CJ held the 50k world record track best for a short time, and has raced a marathon on a 200m track indoors at the NB Armory!
We had a great time catching up with CJ, and believe that he is more than capable of going much faster over the marathon distance! His performance in Boston has opened many doors for this up and coming American distance runner.
