This is Week Five, Day 1 of the 2022 RunBlogRun Fall Cross Country Training & Racing program provided by RunBlogRun. We will provide cross-country training suggestions until late December 2022 (21-22 weeks).
Today is Monday, September 26, 2022. It is a recovery day and the first day of Week five of our 2022 Fall Cross Country Training & Racing program.
The picture today is of Jake Wightman. Jake is the 2022 World champ at 1,500m, bronze medalist at the 1,500m in the Commonwealth Games, and silver medalist at 800m in the European champs. While he may not like cross country, he uses it well. It was only five years ago that Jake was known as an 800m runner, and he began trying the mile and 1,500 meters. His move to the 1,500m and now 1,500m/800m shows a very classic look at the middle distances. Do you run the 800m and 1,500/1,600m?
Recovery days are key to your development. On recovery days, I used softer, more cushiony shoes; I wore gentle shoes when not running, hydrated, rested, and kept the session or sessions easy pace.
Your workout today is warm-up, a relaxed 45-55 minute run on good footing, but perhaps on trails or around a soccer pitch or football field. Keep it gently, and take the time to really stretch well afterward.
