2022 RunBlogRun Summer Cross Country Mileage, Week Six, Day three

MILANO (ITA, Mar 23): Kenyan Thomas Lokomwa won the famous Half Marathon Stramilano in 1:01:39. Second Kiprop Limo who won last year in 1:01:55 and third Ugandan Wilson Busienei 1:02:08. Fifth Yassine Rachik Moroccan running for Italian club 1:04:32. Lucy Wambui as best woman achieved 1:10:52 over Ethiopian Tilahun Biruk 1:11:10 and another Kenyan Hellen Jepkurgat 1:13:01. Best Italian Claudia Pinna as 8th 1:16:03. 5030 runners participated.

 

NAIROBI (KEN, Mar 22): Big no-shows lists were quite evident at the fourth Athletics Kenya relay series at Safaricom Stadium Karasani. Newly-crowned World Indoor 3000 m champion Caleb Ndiku led his 4×1500 m team to victory in 14:54.3. Before him running Collins Cheboi, Zablon Chumba and Bernard Kipkorir. Second was quartet of Hillary Yego, Tohston Simotwo, Fredrick Korir and Stanley Kipkemoi in 14:57.1 and third team Vickson Polonet, Bernard Nkaoienet, Franklin Kiplagat and Samson Mwaura 15:03.2. The lanky Mwangangi said he is keen to extend his wins to the inaugural IAAF World Relays. In the 4×800 m Robert Biwott, the Africa Youth two-lap race title holder, threw down the quantlet and silver medallist Patrick Rono picked it up as Anthony Chemut and Felix Konchella  sealed the victory in 7:11.3.  In women 4×1500 m Beatrice Chepkoech led her team to 18:08.1 win ahead of Susan Wachera’s (19:40.1) and Susan Wacheke (20:22.1). Informs East Standard.

 

SAXON (SUI, Mar 23): Swiss 10 km road titles for Rolf Rufenacht (30:04) and Fabienne Schlumpf (33:36).

 

SAN SEBASTIAN (ESP, Mar 23): Cristina Lara improved Spanish indoor junior record in girls 200 m to 24.14 during last day of National Indoor Junior Championships. Triple world junior champion 2012 Ana Peleteiro won the 60 m in 7.61 and the tripleon Saturday with 13.39.

 

MEGARA (GRE, Mar 23): Greek Walkimng championships had Alexandros Papamihail winning the 20 km in 1:26:06. Antigoni Drisbioti was the best woman in 1:35:38 and missed the Zurich standard by 38 seconds.

 

DRESDEN (GER, Mar 23): Kenyans dominated the 24th edition of Dresden Citylauf. Dickson Kurui 29:58 over Abraham Yano 30:08 in men category. Alice Kibor in 34:15 was the best woman.

 

MOBILE (USA, Mar 22): Janet Bawcom became the Azalea Trail Run’s first three-time women’s winner in downtown Mobile. In the 37th edition of the 10 km she clocked 32:02 ahead of Sophy Jepchirchir 32:21 and Lindsey Scherf 32:32. Fourth Iwona Lewandowska of Poland in 32:40 PB. Julius Kogo won the men race in 27:58 with Cleophas Ngetich second 28:02 and Simon Ndirangu third 28:19.

 

HASTINGS (GBR, Mar 23): Kenyan Boniface Kongin won the 30th Hastings Half Marathon in 1:04:18, the fastest time here since 2007. Gladys Kwambai as best woman got 1:16:42.

 

VILLASANA DE MENA (ESP, Mar 23): Tomas Tajadura 31:09 and Irene Pelayo 35:07 won the 33rd Carrera de San Jose in Burgos region.

 

DALLAS (USA, Mar 23): Olympic marathon medalist Deena Kastor won the Rock and Roll Dallas Half Marathon in 1:11:57. It is her fastest in 40+ age category and best since 2011. She missed the US masters record of Colleen De Reuck by 7 seconds. Kenyan Julius Kiptoo was the best male in 1:06:02.

 

 

 

US SATURDAY (Mar 22)

 

 

SACRAMENTO: Kevin Craddock switched to outdoor hurdling with 13.59 (-0.1) at Hornet Invitational. Jamaican Kemarley Brown improved in both sprints to 10.29 (-0.5) and 20.75 (+1.4). Discus olympic winner Stephanie Brown-Trafton returned after maternity break with 53.33 as second.

 

LOS ANGELES: Aleec Harris clocked personal best 13.55 (-0.6) over the hurdles at Trojan Invitational meet. Diamara Planell of Puerto-Rico equaled national pole vault record 427 cm.

 

TUSCALOOSA: At Alabama Relays solid 100 m by Jamaican veteran Aleen Bailey 11.29 (+1.7). In the men 100 m Johnathan Smith 10.25 (+1.6) over Benjamin Martin 10.28 PB and Kirk Wilson 10.30 PB.

 

HOUSTON: Devin Jenkins got 10.21 in the 100 m at Texas Southern Relays, unfortunately with +2.9 wind.

 

TEMPE: Indian Vikas Gowda won the discus at Baldy Castillo Invitational with 62.75. In the 100 m a tie (+1.5) for Devan Spann and Japanese Sota Kawatsura with 10.37.

 

CHARLOTTE: The 4×400 m Olympic medalist Manteo Mitchell won the 100 m at 49er Classic but his 10.26 had +3.0 wind. In the 200 m also wind-aided 20.40 (+2.1) ahead of Jamaican 400 m hurdler Leford Green 20.72. Women hurdles winner Shermaine Williams was more lucky with 13.14 (-1.1).

 

MYRTLE BEACH: Jamaican World indoor bronze winner from Sopot in relay Dane Hyatt won at the Shamrock Invitational the 200 m in 20.84 (+1.3).

 

OXFORD: Good 100 m at Ole Miss Open as Jalen Miller who is NCAA finalist and still a junior improved to 10.29 (+1.6) and beat Isiah Young 10.39. Ricky Robertson cleared 226 in the high jump and Sam Kendricks 554 in the pole vault.

 

CORAL GABLES: Puerto-Rican Miguel Lopez achieved 10.36 (+2.3) at Hurricane Alumni Invitational. Hurdler and World participant Johnny Dutch clocked 47.32 in the flat 400 m.

 

EUGENE: Steeple specialist Bridget Franek won the 3000 m at Oregon Preview 9:27.36. In the 1500 m German Anne Kesselring 4:18.99 ahead of NCAA 800 m indoor champion Laura Roesler 4:19.44 PB.
