The men’s shot put started out with Tom Walsh, the KIWI young shot put star, who threw 21.23 meters, a new New Zealand national record. Walsh’s throw was also a the longest throw on Scottish soil!

In round three, Reese Hoffa, who recently lost to David Storl in Paris, took the lead with a massive heave of 21.67m. And yes, Reese Hoffa broke Tom Walsh’s record and now had the longest throw on Scottish soil!
Joe Kovacs moved from ninth to third in round three, with his 20.94m.
David Storl the 2011 and 2013 World Champ and Olympic silver, took over second from Tom Walsh, with his 21.26m throw in his fourth attempt, after two fouls.
In round four, David Storl improves to 21.38m, staying in second. Joe Kovacs stays in fourth from his 20.94m throw . German Lauro took over fifth in round five, with his 20.58m, but Majewski got him in round six! Tomasz Majewski was fifth from his 20.75m final throw in round six.
