A fartlek workout can do many things for an athlete. The ability to get into extremely high level of fitness. This workout is a tough one, and will get you tired, if done right.

Thursday: 70 minute fartlek, 7 x 4 minutes, with 3 minute jog, 10 minute warm up, 11 minutes cooldown
Week 8, Summer mileage, Training week 8, the grind has begun
Monday: 55 minute park run
Tuesday: 20 minute warm up run, 3 x 11/2 miles, hilly runs, 1/2 mile cooldown, 20 minute cooldown
Wednesday: 55 minute run, relaxed
Thursday: 70 minute fartlek, 7 x 4 minutes, with 3 minute jog, 10 minute warm up, 11 minutes cooldown
Friday: 55 minute park run, relaxed
Saturday: 50 minute easy run
Sunday: 80-85 minute long run
