In this Chapter 12, Jeff Benjamin reminds us that the NYRR Night of Champions is about helping kids in New York. We think that is a wonderful way to end our rewind. When Fred Lebow and Allan Steinfeld began the NYC Marathon, it was a way to build interest in Central Park, as it was four laps around Central Park. 127 finishers in 1970, and 30,300 in 2021 (50,000 plus finishers in 2019).
