Atlanta Track Club Members Guaranteed Entry, Lottery Held for Remaining Spots

ATLANTA – March 14, 2022 — The first sign of summer appears tomorrow when registration opens for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree
Road Race. By the end of the month, race organizers Atlanta Track Club, expect to have more than 55,000 runners and walkers committed to taking part in
Atlanta’s Fourth of July tradition.

The Club’s 25,000 members receive guaranteed entry into the 10K race if they complete their member registration before or during their registration for the Peachtree. Everyone else is entered in the lottery and selections are made at random when registration closes at 11:59 p.m. on March 31. Due to the event falling on a long weekend and the reduction of COVID concerns which has restricted the race for the past two years, demand for remaining spots is expected to be extremely high. Runners and walkers can find member registration and lottery registration at ajc.com/peachtree.

“The excitement around this year’s Peachtree is reminiscent of the big celebration we had for the race’s 50th Running in 2019,” said Rich Kenah, Atlanta Track Club’s CEO and the race director of the Peachtree. “There is only one Peachtree and while we have maintained the tradition in creative ways over the past two COVID-19 impacted years, we couldn’t be happier about its return to its traditional day and traditional size.”

In 2020, the Peachtree was held virtually due to the pandemic. Last year, the race was held over two days to reduce crowding on the course. Besides returning to a one-day in-person event, the Atlanta Track Club member party will return to Park Tavern for the first time since 2019. This member-only event includes a gathering space in Piedmont Park and complimentary food and beer for participants over the age of 21.

A virtual option remains available in 2022 with registration guaranteed and remaining open through May 31. There will be a limited number of charity
entries benefitting Kilometer Kids, Atlanta Track Club’s free youth running initiative. In addition, participating charity partners will have a select number of entries available. Participants will have to meet fundraising requirements set by each charity partner. A list of the Official Charity Partners offering entries into the 2022 Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race is located here.

Regardless of the day or time of registration, all individuals who enter the lottery during the registration period will have an equal chance of being selected for the 2022 Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race. All lottery entrants will receive an email by April 2 notifying them if they were selected for the event. There is no charge to enter the lottery. Registrants will only be charged once their entry is accepted.

The 53rd running of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race will take place on Monday, July 4. Entry into the 10K event is $42 for Atlanta Track Club members who receive guaranteed entry and $48 for those accepted via the lottery. Kilometer Kids charity entries are $200 and include guaranteed entry into the event, a commemorative medal, an adidas drawstring bag and a MARTA Breeze card for race day, a 10K training plan and entry into the post-race party at Park Tavern.

Additional details regarding the 2022 Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race including registration information, start wave placement details and specifics on the Peachtree Health & Fitness Expo presented by Publix, held July 2 and 3, are available at atlantatrackclub.org/peachtree.
