Today is day 3 of week one of the RunBlogRun Summer Cross Country Mileage Program. We will take 8 weeks to get you ready for the fall cross country season.
Today we will write about Sam Prakel.
Sam Prakel took the lead with just a lap to go and tried to break the field in the US Trials on June 25, 2022. He pushed terribly hard for 350 meters, and was passed in the last fifty meters. He gave it all he could in that race, hoping to finish in the top 3, he fell back to eighth. This is how he responded on his FB site to his race:
“Ran in my 5th consecutive US 1500m final. Gave it my all, but it wasn’t my day as I fell short of my goal of top 3 and got 8th. Appreciate all the love and support, I’ll be back stronger next year.”
The stress in running in a major championship can not be underestimated. The following week, Sam Prakel ran a 3:51 mile in Yakima, Washington. Sam Prakel has what it takes.
Our approach is to build mileage plus tempo runs, hill runs, and long runs.
Today’s workout, on Tuesday, July 6, 2020: warm up, 40 minute easy run on trails, cooldown.
