This is a gem of an interview with 3 times World Champion (2016 indoors, 2017 outdoors, 2018 indoors), two-time Olympic bronze medalist, and 3 time World Champs outdoor bronze medalist Tom Walsh, who has been fighting the shot put wars since 2009! One of the most thoughtful interviews that I have had with an athlete. Tom Walsh loves to compete. I miss seeing him at meets due to the pandemic. We always have a quick laugh, and I ask him something about the competition. I like to see the world through this Kiwi’s eyes. He misses little.

Tom Walsh was introduced to me by his late agent, Andy Stubbs, a wonderful man who passed away last year. Andy told me that Tom was a good guy, and we did our first interview in 2015. I enjoyed his sense of humor, his keen knowledge of the sport, and that he wanted to win, no matter what. I had sensed a less than satisfactory treatment of him at the DL that week, and I knew he was keeping it bottled to kick but while he threw.

Tom Walsh is a player each time he competes. Enjoy the interview with this fine Kiwi thrower.
