NEW YORK, NY, Oct. 26, 2022 – The fall edition of the semiannual Armory Track & Field Camp will be held on Sunday, November 13th, at the New Balance Track & Field Center at The Armory. This camp allows high school student-athletes to connect with high-level professional athletes and accomplished coaches, allowing them to learn from the very best in the sport and start the indoor season off on the right foot.

One of the headliners for this year’s camp will be Ajee’ Wilson, who is one of the most decorated middle-distance runners in American history. Wilson is a two-time Olympian, two-time World Championship bronze medalist, 11-time national champion, and this year’s world indoor champion over 800 meters. She previously coached at The Armory Camp in 2019 and will return to mentor a new crop of young athletes.

“I’m super excited to be a professional instructor for the Armory Camp,” Wilson said. “I’ve been an instructor for a more minor camp during Millrose weekend, so I’m excited to have more time to connect and work with the student-athletes.

“I’m the product of great mentorship, so it’s special anytime I have the opportunity to be on the other end and give guidance/tips to those who may find it helpful. The Armory Camp provides that perfect opportunity to encourage and inspire student-athletes while also being a great opportunity to grow track & field.”

Many other world-class track stars will be in attendance as well, including:

Natoya Goule, a two-time Olympian and the Jamaican record holder in the 800m.

Joseph Fahnbulleh, double NCAA champion in the 100m and 200m, and the flag-bearer for Liberia at the Olympics.

Danielle Williams, the 2015 world champion in the 100m hurdles and the 10th-fastest woman in the history of the event.

Marquis Dendy an Olympian, two-time national champion, and seven-time NCAA champion in the long jump.

Nick Ponzio, a three-time Italian champion and shot-put Olympian.

Eric Holt a 3:54 miler and a local legend in the NYC running scene.

Priscilla Frederick a 2016 Olympian and the high jump national record holder for Antigua & Barbuda.

Miles Lewis, the Puerto Rican national record holder in the indoor 60m.

“I am looking forward to coming to The Armory and helping to coach high school athletes,” Goule said. “I love working with the next generation of track & field stars.”

In addition to these fantastic professional athletes, many of the best high school and college coaches in New York and beyond also will be sharing their wisdom and leading workouts. These coaching legends include Dom Zanot of Athletics Westchester, Bart Sessa of Syosset, Cornel Johnson of DeWitt Clinton, Craig Sutherland of Paul Robeson, Sean Cooper of Columbia University, Jerome Robinson of Next Level Athletic Club, Chris Scarella of Iona Prep, and Tim St. Lawrence of Flying Circus Pole Vault.

“The Armory, and the high school athletes we serve, are extremely fortunate that so many Olympians and top track & field athletes are willing to devote a full day to working with athletes who plan to compete in college and perhaps beyond,” said Bassett Thompson, Director of Track & Field at The Armory. “With athletes representing six nations, the Armory Track & Field Camp will have a very international flavor this time.”

The Armory Track & Field Camp is divided into morning and afternoon sessions across eight disciplines: sprints, mid-distance, distance, hurdles, throws, long jump/triple jump, high jump, and pole vault. Athletes can register for one or both sessions and may register for multiple events if they so choose. For more information about the camp and how to register, please visit https://www.armorycamp.org/

The Armory in Washington Heights hosts more than 100 track & field meets throughout the indoor season, including the world’s most recognized indoor meet, the 115th Millrose Games, scheduled for February 11.
