Witness the Wonder, World Outdoor Athletics Budapest 2023, Day 32: What we will find in Day One at Budapest 2023!

For the next 13 days, RunBlogRun will be posting a story a day on the buildup to the World Athletics Outdoor Championships, to be held in Budapest, Hungary, from August 19-August 27, 2023.

Tonight I am writing about enjoying the 2023 World Outdoor Athletics Championships sessions. Here’s the link to the pdf of the whole World Champs Budapest 2023.

The Good, the bad, and the unusual in Budapest

On session 1 of Day 1, you can see the following:

Men’s 20k Race Walk final at 8:30 AM.

10:30 AM, Men’s shot put A&B qualifying. Ryan Crouser, Joe Kovacs, and Tom Walsh should be competing in the Men’s shot put.

10:35 AM, Women’s 100-meter hurdles, heptathlon,  We should see Nafi Thiams, Anna Hall and Katerina Johnson Thompson again.

11:05 AM 4x400m Relay (Mixed), will the Dominican Republic defend this title? Will The Netherlands surprise, and what team with the US put together?

11:35 Men’s steeplechase: Will we see Lamencha Girma and Soufianne El Bakaali meet in the early heat?

11:45 AM High Jump Hep, the Heptathlon will be amazingly competitive, with Nafi Thiam, Anna Hall, and Katerina Johnson Thompson, among others.

12 noon, can the Women’s Hammer throw a surprise? Can Anita Wlodarczyk take the title again?

12:25 Women’s Long Jump, Women’s Qualifying, Ivana Spanavic, Malaika Mihambo, Jazmin Sawyers, Tara Davis, who will medal in this one?

12:35 PM,  Men’s 100 meters, this is a round where countries can put their only athlete in this round, and who will be the new sprint stars from Budapest?

1:15 PM, Women’s 1,500 meters, Faith Kipygegon, Laura Muir, and Jemma Reekie will be there; who else?

2:40 PM, can the Men’s hammer throw, Wojciech Nowicki and Pawel Fadjek duel, or can Pawel Fadjeck win his sixth hammer throw title?

Day One, Evening Session 2

Opening session at 6.:30 PM

7:05 PM Hep Women’s shot put, this is one of Nafi Thiam’s best events. Will Anna Hall be able to stay with her in this event?

7:10 PM  Men’s Discus Throw A , Mykolas Alekna, Krystjan Ceh, Daniel Stahl, and others will show their talents?

7:35 PM Men’s Triple Jump, Pedro Pichardo will battle the world. Will Fabrice Hughes Zango be able to battle Pedro?

7:43 PM, Men’s 100 meters, Round 1, Marcell Jacobs, Fred Kerley, Ferdinand Omanyala, and the rest of the world, one of the finest events of the championships

8:35 PM, The Men’s shot put final, Who can battle Ryan Crouser? Know that Joe Kovacs and Tom Walsh should be there!

8:40 PM, men’s Discus Throw B, who will challenge here?

8:55 PM, Women’s 10,000m, Eilish McColgan, Aleasha Monson, Mizam Adema, who will surprise in the 25 lapper?

9:47 PM, Mixed 4x400m relay, Which teams will run this one, right? The 4x400m Mixed is full of tactical opportunities.

Each session will have something exciting to watch. The first session of the World Champs has a fun energy as the fans check out their favorite stars and enjoy the new National Athletics Centre.

One of the benefits of Budapest is that all of the World Champs is close together, and Budapest is eminently walkable.
