STATEN ISLAND (USA, Feb 28): In the Ocean Breeze facility dramatic 3000 m race during first day of US Indoor Championships. Cole Hocker won in 7:39.25 just ahead of Yared Nuguse 7:39.28 and not qualified for Torun would by 0.01 Nico Young 7:39.29. Women 3000 m was more clear for Emily Mackay 8:30.01 meet record and PB with Elle St. Pierre 8:31.07 and third Margot Appleton way back 8:41.41. In the 60 m hurdles final Dylan Beard won in 7.37 PB and equaled so the World lead of Trey Cunningham who was second 7.40 (but 7.38 in heats), third Jamal Britt 7.46.

Alia Armstrong clearly won women final in 7.82 over surprise Danae Dyer 7.92 PB as Alaysha Johnson was a DQ as she ran under protest within top two range. Shot put World champion Chase Jackson showed top shape in right time with a 20.44 win and US indoor record. Second qualifier is Abria Smith as a surprise with 19.23 PB.

Pole vault saw Zach Bradford getting new PB and MR 601 (6th American over 6) and a win over KC Lightfoot who tied with Chris Nilsen, both 585. Nilsen then won a administrative jump-off for World Indoors place. High jump women, no surprises, Charity Hufnagel 196 over Vashti Cunningham 193 and Anna Hall 190.

Jasmine Moore got 686 long jump win followed by Monae Nichols 6.72 mand out is reigning World indoor champion Claire Bryant 669. Russell Robinson won men triple 16.59m and confirmed Torun. Isaiah Harris topped the weight throw 23.41 and in 5000 m walk Nick Christie 19:13.37 NR and Lauren Harris 22:14.69 NR.
