Clayton Young is one of my favorite athletes. He is positive and has never turned down an interview with me, which I appreciate. At the humid Tokyo World Champs, Clayton gave the assembled media a thoughtful recap of his race, which did not go as planned. Clayton is a class act.

Congrats on Brooks and Clayton Young finding a win-win situation!

I have always thought that Clayton Young will be a global medalist in the marathon.

Brooks Welcomes Clayton Young, Takes Significant Step Forward in Performance-Driven Roster

Today,  Brooks Running announced the signing of elite marathoner Clayton Young to its all-star road roster, marking a significant development in the performance running brand’s team-first strategy to become the leader at the highest level of competition. Young will bring his technical, data-driven approach to footwear and performance to collaboration with the brands’ athlete performance and innovation development teams. Young will look to add to his already-decorated career in partnership with Brooks, including the NCAA championship title in the 10,000m, a 2nd-place finish at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials, a top-10 finish at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, and 3-time top-10 finisher in World Majors.

“Joining Team Brooks truly marks an exciting new chapter in my professional career. The same intentional, detail-oriented, and data-driven approach that the world has seen from me as I’ve prepared and competed on race day can also be found in my decision to partner with Brooks,” said Clayton Young. “I am excited for the opportunities and innovation that Brooks presents to compete at the highest level, and also for the opportunities to engage with the running community and inspire the rising generation.”

In addition to his proven results on the course, this partnership reflects Brooks’ commitment to building a team-first roster aligned on values, performance, and community impact. Young’s passion for the future of the sport, through both youth running and product innovation, will become key pillars in his partnership with Brooks. In this new role, Young will have the opportunity to engage with Brooks’ Future Run program through team grants and coaching, as well as youth programming. Additionally, Young will work closely with Brooks’ footwear development team to provide elite-level insights to drive product innovation.

“At Brooks, we’re intentionally building more than a roster of fast athletes – we’re building a team. As one of the most consistent top-performing marathoners in the country and a proven contender on the global stage, we’re thrilled to be adding Clayton to Team Brooks, said Garrett Heath, Director of Sports Marketing at Brooks Running. “Clayton’s relentless drive to never settle is contagious, and his team-based mindset will help to continue elevating everyone around him. He brings a thoughtful, methodical approach to performance and product that will help continue to push our innovation forward and inspire us to always think bigger. We couldn’t be more excited to kick off this partnership with him as he eyes even bigger dreams and continues to inspire the next generation of athletes for years to come.”

Brooks believes a team-first mindset builds trust, connection, and a culture that not only drives higher performance but makes the journey more meaningful. Young will elevate Brooks’ marathon roster as he brings both competitive credibility and inspires future generations of runners through his resilience and dedication. As Young prepares for his next chapter, with the Boston Marathon on deck and the 2028 Olympics ahead, Brooks will support him as a performance partner committed to sweating the details so athletes can shine when it matters most.
