Kenenisa Bekele and Jos Hermans made a monumental decision when they turned down offers from London and decided to run in Paris for Bekeles’ marathon debut.
At 27 kilometers, Kenenisa dropped a kilometer in 2:49 on the field and that was that. Actually, Kenenisa had cramps in his hamstrings from 29k to 35k and he was worried, but he persevered, as most debut marathoners do.
Kenenisa Bekele was rewarded with a 2:05:03, the sixth fastest debut of all times. Bekele told RunBlogRun that he would take a week off, then, begin training for the 10,000 meters and run the Pre Classic on May 30.
For his fine debut, Kenenisa Bekele is RunBlogRun’s April Global Athlete of the Month! The video was produced by The Shoe Addicts.
