The Good, the bad, and the unusual in Budapest

Here are Five European Athletes who could make the podium in Budapest!

Katerina Johnson-Thompson. The heptathlete veteran is back. Her big score of 6,558 in Gotzis over the weekend lets us know that the British star is back and will be a player in Budapest. Katerina has the skill set, but also her experience in the big champs makes her quite dangerous. A fine high jumper, KJT is a rock star in Great Britain.

Kevin Mayer. The Decathlon star is really entertaining. Kevin has won two World Champs (2017 and 2022). He has also won two silver medals at the Olympic games. A tough competitor, Mayer is focused on Budapest and should be in the thick of a very tough ten-event competition. Kevin is a fun interview and very introspective. He has big dreams for Paris 2024.

Kristjan Ceh. Discus. One of the gentle giants. Fifth in the Tokyo 2021 Olympics, gold in Eugene 2022 World Champs, and silver in the European Champs. I interviewed Kristjan in Doha, and what a nice guy! He makes 70-meter discus throws look commonplace!
Laura Muir. 1500 meters. Laura is from Scotland. She has won bronze at the World Champs, silver in the Olympics, and gold in the Commonwealth Games (also bronze in the 800m), and European Champs. Laura is an absolutely tough competitor who has paid her dues coming up in the sport. She is at the top of her game and is poised for Budapest 2023 and Paris 2024.

Malaika Mihambo. Long Jump. One of the finest long jumpers in the World. Olympic gold, Tokyo, World Champs, Eugene, and Doha, a complete set of medals at the Europeans, the German star is always in the long jump battle and has devastating last-round jumps! Watch for her in Budapest!
